Farmers across the country have gathered shouting “Dilli Chalo” slogans in the National Capital and begun a march to Parliament Street over their demands, including relief from debts and remunerative prices for their produce. Over one lakh farmers across the country camped at Ramlila Maidan since Thursday to take part in two day Kisan Mukthi Rally. The Opposition leaders is expected to address the rally. The rally is organized by All-India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), which claims to be an principal body for more than 206 Kisan groups in India.
Many farmers from different corners of the country reached Delhi. Farmers from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh is participating in the rally. The farmers came in trains, tractors, buses and other modes of transport. Over 3500 police personnel have deployed to maintain peace and security along the rally route. The farmers from different states shouted slogans like “Ayodhya Nahi, Karzi Maaf Chahiye” ( Don’t need Ayodhya,but debt waiver).
Almost 1300 farmers from Tamil Nadu reached Delhi carrying skulls of their co-workers who committed suicide due to distress and loan.Delhiites welcomed the farmers and extended their support to them. Five Gurdwaras in Delhi offered the farmers to stay at night. Many students from universities came together to help the farmers. Last time, on October 2nd when farmers staged protest at Delhi, they were treated with barricades, water cannons and tear gas shells.
