Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said setback for the party in the recent Lok Sabha election will be examined. “But this is not a verdict against the State government and hence there is no circumstance for me to resign. The setback is temporary and we also could not identity this trend in any phase of our campaign,” he said on Saturday.
Pinarayi Vijayan alleged that people of Kerala who was anxious about the future of the country and who didn’t want Modi to become the prime minister voted for Congress. The LDF votes leaked as there was a feeling that Congress would come to power.
The chief minister said that Rahul Gandhi’s candidature in Kerala also proved advantageous to the Congress. “Then the Left had asked against whom was Rahul Gandhi contesting in Wayanad. Now we understand why. He did so out of fear of losing the election in Amethi.
However, Pinarayi Vijayan said that he would check whether any other factor had affected the election result of the LDF. “I feel that Sabarimala issue has not seriously influenced the LDF’s election result. In that case, the BJP would have gained out of Sabarimala issue. Even in Pathanamthitta, the BJP could only get third position. However, it will also be checked whether anyone had spread misunderstanding in the name of Sabarimala. Though the poll debacle of the Left is a reality, there will not be any change in the style of my functioning. People very well know who is arrogant. I reached this stage using my style,” he said.
