Two fishermen killed after boat sinks in Chirayinkeezhu

Two fishermen were killed after their fishing boat sank at Muthalapozhi. The dead has been identified as Rocky Benjinos (57) and Lasar Thomas (54), both natives of Anchuthengu. Vinod, Moses and Teri were rescued by some fishermen of another boat. The incident happened Monday morning between 5.30 and 6 am.

They ventured into the sea in their fibre boat from Muthalapozhi harbour. The boat overturned in a big wave. Though Lazar swam to the shore, he died on way to the hospital. Rock died in his effort to swim to the shore. His body was recovered in a search conducted. The bodies of the two have been shifted to the mortuary of Chirayinkeezhu Govt Hospital. A case has been registered by Thazhambally coastal police.

Rocky is predeceased by his wife Leena. Nithin and Ninu are his children. Telma is Lazar’s wife and Treesa and Linta are his children.
