Minister G Sudhakaran has not violated any code of conduct, says Election commission

The election commission on Wednesday announced that minister G Sudhakaran is not guilty of making defamatory remarks about UDF’s Aroor candidate Shanimol Usman. It was Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena who stated that the minister has not violated the election code of conduct.

According to Meena, there is nothing defamatory in the minister’s speech. He said that the commission came to a conclusion after going through the reports submitted by the collector and SP. The commission had also checked the video of Sudhakaran’s speech and his later explanation about the speech.

The controversial remark was made by Sudhakaran during a family meeting in Thycattussery. Following this, Shanimol accused the minister of insulting womanhood and filed a complaint at the Women’s commission as well as the Election commission. A complaint was filed by Sudhakaran as well accusing the UDF leaders of spreading baseless accusations against him.
