Now, it is alleged that the police made some deliberate delay in collecting evidence regarding the death of Chungappara native Divya P John (21), who was a student nun living in Thiruvalla Paliakkara Beselian Convent. Divya was found dead inside the well on the premises of the convent on May 7 at around 12 in the noon but the dog squad and forensic experts reached there only the next day.
There is a strong allegation that the delay from the part of the local police was an attempt to divert the case. As the allegations became strong, the case was handed over to the Crime Brach. Divya’s body was taken out by Fire Force personnel. She had died before being pulled out of the well; the videos and photos of her body showed this
Police were not ready to give more details about the death other than quoting the initial post-mortem report that the drowning was the cause of Divya’s death. The police also didn’t rule out the chances for suicide.
